I .

I am a silence

of two mountains

facing a valley of pain.

I am a balancing

act of beliefs,

bread, and running

water.

I am a nervous skin of peace

between the desert

and your body made of wind

and heat

a reveller face to face

with death

in a reckless alley.

I walk

a road made of death

and unanswerable questions

with a head made of stone

and the wasps anger

into my country’s time.

I come from a land

of death and rainbows.

With a mouthful of hunger

I taste you

blinded by wars

and power

and an angry history.

I live in a house

going up and down

to different people

and their phenomena

to is it really equality

or the river overcoming

all selfhood.

I walk

a road made of death

and unanswerable questions

with a head made of stone

and the wasps anger

into my country’s time.

2.

I come from a land

of cattle and skeletons

like a wounded dog

I walk streets full of barbed

memory

howling to god

through my skeleton made of

rain and stone

my brain made of pulsing skies

I see a mountain approaching

the crowd

ready to crush spines.

at every point in the road

I ask myself

must i turn off already.

I come from a land

of bronze and metal fragments

a land of hunger

and uproar in

every language

including the strangled

voice of the blind

and the pungent music

of the deaf.

I come from a land

that drinks pain like water.

I live in a land provoked

by too much memory.

I live in a land whose reality

is violence and continued

existence is based on

the burning of my lips

under salt skies

and hands dreaming of

burning bridges.

I come from a land

Of death and rainbows
